Serena Williams back on the court in a few days: aims for Wimbledon

Serena Williams is officially back in the game: in a few weeks, the U.S. star will take the doubles tournament court in the HSBC Championships, played on the grass courts of the Queen’s Club, the appetizer for Wimbledon.
The 44-year-old American champion, who retired in 2022 at the U.S. Open, will pair up with Canadian Victoria Mboko, who could be her daughter given her 19 years of age. The goal is to regain ideal condition for a possible Wimbledon appearance.
“Serena is one of the greatest athletes of all time, with a legacy that goes far beyond the tennis court. Her return is an expression of her passion for competition, and I look forward to seeing her take on a new generation of top players,” are the words of WTA President Valerie Camillo.
“Serena is not just a great champion. She is a successful entrepreneur, a fervent supporter of causes that matter, and one of the most iconic women in the world. We are thrilled to welcome her back to the Wta circuit at this exciting time for women’s tennis.”
Serena’s return has already ignited excitement in the tennis world. Carlos Alcaraz, interviewed by Tennishead, expressed all his enthusiasm: “She is the greatest tennis player of all time. Everyone is chasing her on the WTA Tour. It would be great to see her on the court again, if only for the pleasure of watching her play. One should not underestimate what it means mentally to win 23 Slams: she has gone through all the difficulties and knows exactly what it takes to win.”
