Marco Bezzecchi Apologizes and Hugs the Marshal After the Slap

One day after the incident in Brno, Marco Bezzecchi chose to speak out publicly to take responsibility and apologize for the action that shook the MotoGP paddock. After hours inevitably marked by reflection and regret, the Aprilia rider posted a message on social media, acknowledging the seriousness of the incident and the vital role played by marshals, who are essential to the safety of riders and staff.
“I would like to offer my apologies to the entire MotoGP community for the action I took toward the track marshal,” the rider from Romagna wrote on Instagram. “I am deeply sorry, especially because I am well aware of the dedication and sacrifices the marshals make every day to ensure our safety. Behavior like this must not happen and is completely unjustifiable. I apologize to everyone, to Aprilia Racing, and to my fans.”
The morning after the incident, Bezzecchi personally met with the marshal involved, offering his apologies and giving him a hug.
Immediately after the Sprint Race, the rider had spoken with the media without mentioning the incident. In fact, he had not mentioned the moment when the marshal, in an attempt to lift the motorcycle, caused it to accelerate sharply, nor had he mentioned his own reaction, which culminated in a shove and a slap. He appeared disappointed with the race result, but gave no indication of the gravity of what had happened off the track.
Now, however, the price to pay is steep. Excluded from the race and suspended by the Steward Panel, Bezzecchi is forced to watch from the sidelines a day that could have significant consequences for the world championship battle. After putting together a top-tier season so far, the Italian rider risks losing ground to his main rivals, starting with his teammate Jorge Martin, not to mention Fabio Di Giannantonio and Marc Márquez, who are ready to take advantage of his absence to gain valuable points in the standings.
