Wimbledon, Jannik Sinner vs. Novak Djokovic: There’s Already an Early Surprise

The matchups in the men’s singles draw at Wimbledon, now in the semifinals, have led the organizers to adjust the schedule from their initial plans to ensure that the match between Jannik Sinner and Novak Djokovic—which is the highlight of Friday’s action, without taking anything away from the other two semifinalists (Alexander Zverev and Arthur Fery), takes place later than originally planned.
Sinner and Djokovic will face off, in fact, immediately after the other semifinal concludes—not the other way around. This means that the match between Zverev and Fery will begin at 2:30 p.m. Italian time: about half an hour after the conclusion of that match, the South Tyrolean and the Serbian will begin their warm-ups, ready to battle it out—on the court, of course—in front of the Centre Court crowd.
It is therefore possible that the match between Sinner and Djokovic will end after sunset: in that case, a break of about twenty minutes would be needed to close the roof and turn on the floodlights—a scenario that has already occurred several times over the past two weeks.
As for the live television broadcast, Sky Sport has confirmed it will air the match, both on satellite channels and via streaming on NOW and Sky Go. Sinner and Djokovic are set to face off at Wimbledon for the second time in the semifinals: in 2023, the Serbian prevailed in three sets; in 2025, the South Tyrolean returned the favor before going on to claim the title in the historic final against Carlos Alcaraz.
