Jannik Sinner in Miami final: another magical night, Alexander Zverev can do nothing

Jannik Sinner is in the final at the Miami Masters 1000: the outclassman from Alto Adige, the highest seed among those still in the running (with the number 2), defeated the number 3 seed (and world number 4) Alexander Zverev in the semifinals, winning both sets played on the Italian night between Friday and Saturday: 6-3, 7-6(4) the result, accrued in just under two hours of play. Sinner will face in the final the Czech Jiri Lehecka, who in the semifinals played earlier also beat Arthur Fils in two sets.
In the first set it is the serve that makes the difference in favor of Sinner, who makes as many as seven aces while Zverev does not score a single one: in the fourth game it is already break for the world number 2, who flies so without any particular difficulty towards the success in the first fraction. Much more balanced was the trend in the second set, with Zverev able to avoid three times a break against him and to bring, in the end, the fraction to the tie-break: in the decisive game, however, it was Sinner who got the better of it, taking advantage of the only mini-break at his disposal and the subsequent match point.
No revenge then for the German, who had been defeated by Jannik Sinner in Indian Wells, also in the semifinals. In the final act, for the champion from Sesto Pusteria, the opponent changes: in California it had been Daniil Medvedev who had unsuccessfully contended for the trophy reserved for the winner while in Florida it will be Jiri Lehecka, number 22 in the world and seeded number 21, who will try to conquer a surprise result in the wake of what happened last year when another Czech outsider, Jakub Mensik, won the title in Miami by beating Novak Djokovic in the final.
Sinner and Lehecka have faced each other three times on the major circuit, with as many victories for the Italian: 6-3, 6-3 in the quarterfinals at Indian Wells 2024, 6-2, 7-6(6) also in the quarters at Beijing 2024, 6-0, 6-1, 6-2 in the third round at Roland Garros 2025.
