Juventus market, important news in the hunt for'experienced defender

It will not be easy for Juventus to get to Antonio Rudiger, a now declared target for next season. Several Premier League clubs are in fact moving on the German defender, who, after metaphorically standing at the window to understand the real intentions of the player, whose contract with Real Madrid is expiring, are ready to bring their economic power to bear should the renewal with the Merengues blow up permanently.
Manchester United and Liverpool are the two clubs that, in recent days, have shown the most interest, according to reports from ‘One Football’. Tottenham is also in the background but Spurs, struggling with a deep crisis of results, want to first secure salvation on the field and then think about the summer market. Also not to be forgotten is the possibility of a reopening of renewal negotiations by Real Madrid, should it fail to find immediate alternatives for the defense.
The German defender has seen his relationship with the Madrid club progressively deteriorate over the course of the year, in parallel with the general difficulties of a team that changed coach in January, moving from Xabi Alonso to Alvaro Arbeloa. The new coach’s position, however, could have no small influence: if Arbeloa were to be confirmed on the Blancos’ bench, talk of renewal could also return, since the young coach has restored the German’s centrality in the defensive package.
On the Bianconeri front, however, there is one element that could prove decisive in the negotiations: the special relationship between Rudiger and Luciano Spalletti. The two worked together at Roma between 2016 and 2017, and the German defender has always spoken highly of the Certaldo coach. “He was very important in my career, I think he brought out the best in me. I was young, I thought I was a very good defender but he taught me a lot,” Rudiger had said in March 2025, on the eve of the Nations League match between Germany and Italy.
From an economic point of view, Juventus would be studying a sustainable contractual formula: the idea would be to propose a two-year deal with an option for a third season, with a salary between 5 and 6 million euros net plus bonuses and a signing incentive. A figure that is however important for the bianconeri coffers, which will have to be carefully evaluated by the management led by sporting director Marco Ottolini, aware that the need to reinforce the defense is a top priority after the fragilities that have emerged during this season.
