Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia and the Azzurri from Mattarella: "Kept promise"

President of the Republic Sergio Mattarella received at the Quirinale the Italian athletes who made their mark at the Milan Cortina Olympics, a record edition for Italy with 30 medals. Olympic standard-bearers returned the tricolor, all athletes who came to medal plus those who finished fourth were present.
“These Games have written an unforgettable page. They were Games that were a source of pride for our country. On the sports level: 30 medals for the Olympics, 16 for the Paralympics. The records achieved, the disciplines in which we were protagonists, sports movement of great quality should be remembered. Some of the stories have been exciting, they have involved us for passion sacrifice and dedication,” Mattarella said.
All the blue champions were present, among them Federica Brignone, Sofia Goggia, Franzoni, Lollobrigida, Fontana, Pellegrino. “The honor of carrying the flag has given me a huge push for an impossible challenge, an Olympics at home is a privilege but also a pressure,” said Brignone.
The pride of Arianna Fontana, the Italian athlete with the most medals ever at the Olympics: “It has been an incredible journey, feeling the warmth of all the Italians was what helped all the athletes. We kept our promise: we gave everything in every race. We put our heart and soul into it. Today we are here to celebrate something incredible that has given something equally incredible to Italy.”
