Trieste, Sandro De Pol also takes a stand

The situation related to the future of Pallacanestro Trieste, whose scenario is still far from being able to be said to be defined, continues to hold court among basketball fans. Speaking to Il Piccolo, Alessandro De Pol did not hide his worries about the future of the reality in which he himself was basketballally raised, stressing how the current picture remains extremely uncertain.
“In a situation so poor of certainties it is difficult to understand what Paul Matiasic’s real intentions are – explained the former white and red player -. Every scenario remains possible but, precisely, one can speak only of hypotheses. From what I gather from talking to agents and insiders throughout Italy, it is now taken for granted in the environment that his experience in Trieste has come to an end. It only remains to be understood when and how he will say goodbye.”
De Pol then made a clear appeal to the territory: “We cannot wait every time for someone from outside to come and take responsibility for supporting basketball. If Trieste really cares, now is the time to prove it. We need to do more.”
According to the former national team member, the priority is to identify a figure capable of coordinating resources and strategies: “We need a collector, someone who knows both the sports reality and the economic fabric of Trieste in depth. We need to understand what means are really available to us and build alternative plans. Only then can a concrete assessment be made. Everyone would like Serie A, but if the means are not there, one must take note of it.”
