Serie A, Champions League sprint: in five for three places. The calendar

The Scudetto has already been arithmetically awarded to Inter, but Serie A is still experiencing a heated sprint to win a place in the next Champions League. The results of the 36th day saw the further braking of Massimiliano Allegri’s Milan, defeated at home by Atalanta. The Diavolo has not won since mid-April and has slipped to fourth place in the standings, overtaken by Juventus.

Napoli second in the standings takes the field on Monday evening against Bologna and can close the gap for good, while between third and sixth place there are only three points and anything can happen.

Below is the schedule of the teams between second and sixth place: three will go to the Champions League, one will surely go to the Europa League while for the fates of the sixth-place finisher we will first have to wait for the Coppa Italia final, since one of the two finalists, Lazio, is out of the Europa zone via the league.

Remind that in case of a tie on points, the break-even ranking applies, according to the following criteria in order of consideration in case of a further tie: 1) points in direct matches, 2) goal difference in direct matches, 3) overall goal difference, 4) goals scored overall. In the remote case of an absolute tie in all criteria, a draw will be made in the presence of delegates of the clubs concerned.
