There’s no longer any doubt: Massimiliano Allegri is Napoli’s new head coach. The deal was officially announced by both club owner Aurelio De Laurentiis and the club. “Welcome, Max!” read the tweet from the head of the Azzurri club.

Here, meanwhile, is the statement from the Neapolitan club: “SSC Napoli welcomes Massimiliano Allegri, who takes over as head coach of the first team. The coach has signed a contract that will keep him with the club through June 30, 2029. After a long playing career—during which he also wore the Napoli jersey in ’97/98—Max Allegri began his coaching career in the 2003/04 season. In 2007–08, he led Sassuolo to its first-ever promotion to Serie B, also winning the Serie C1 Super Cup that same season. A few months later, he made his Serie A debut with Cagliari, finishing the season in ninth place and winning the Panchina d’Oro award.

In 2010, he joined Milan, leading the team to its 18th Scudetto and sixth Italian Super Cup in the club’s history. From 2014 to 2019, he was the head coach of Juventus, leading the team to five consecutive league titles, four consecutive Coppa Italia titles, and two Supercoppa Italiana titles. During that same period, he guided the Bianconeri to the Champions League final twice. After two years, he returned to lead Juventus, winning his fifth Coppa Italia in 2024. Last season, he coached Milan once again, finishing the league in fifth place. “Welcome, Coach Allegri!”

The former Milan coach has signed a three-season contract. It will therefore be up to him to carry on the legacy of Antonio Conte, who, for his part, could return to coaching the national team.
