Franck Kessié’s future could once again be intertwined with Serie A. The Ivorian midfielder, now at Al-Ahli in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has a contract expiring at the end of June and is considering a return to top-level European soccer. The conditions for a return to Italy are all there, and one team in particular has already made a decisive move: it is Roma, coached by an old acquaintance of Kessié himself, Gian Piero Gasperini.

The Giallorossi, according to reports from ‘Foot Africa,’ is the club furthest ahead in the race. The permanence of Gian Piero Gasperini on the bench represents a key element: the coach has already coached Kessié in his Atalanta days, enhancing him and transforming him into a total midfielder, capable then, after his farewell to the Bergamaschi, of winning a Scudetto with the Milan shirt. The relationship between the two has remained excellent and the prospect of reuniting could be decisive.

For Roma, Kessié would be the ideal profile to give physicality, insertions and leadership to a midfield in search of a quantum leap. The capital club is seriously evaluating the operation, strengthened also by the player’s willingness to get back into the game in a competitive context with European ambitions. But there is not only Roma to show interest in the Ivorian born in 1996.

Juventus, which had flirted with the player back in the days of AC Milan and then Barcelona, has never sunk the blow, but today the situation is different: the new technical course is looking for ready, physical profiles accustomed to playing at high levels and Kessié fits perfectly into this category. Then there is Inter, which has always been attentive to zero-parameter opportunities: the Ivorian could be an important coup for experience, knowledge of the Italian league and tactical ductility.

The real obstacle is represented by the salary received by Kessié in Saudi Arabia, out of reach for any Italian club. However, the player’s entourage would be willing to revise the figures in order to bring the midfielder back to a top league. The goal is clear: to return to prominence in Europe, possibly to a team that can offer him Champions League football. This element could make the difference in the final choice: also for this reason, for Roma and Juventus (Inter is already certain of participation) qualification for the next Champions may prove crucial.
