Inter, 10th Coppa Italia is reality: Lazio defeated in final at'Olimpico

Inter won the 2025-2026 edition of the Coppa Italia: at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome, in the final played on Wednesday night, the Nerazzurri seized their 10th triumph in the competition, their first since 2023 and their third in the last five years. In the roll of honor, the Beneamata succeeds Bologna, last year’s winner of the final against AC Milan.
Everything was decided in the first half, with Inter taking the lead at 14′ with a crude Biancoceleste own goal: on a corner taken by Dimarco, Thuram tried to deflect toward the goal but the ball first hit Marusic, who touched it badly and sent it behind Motta. Another Lazio mistake is worth the double at 35′: Dumfries snatches the ball away from a distracted Nuno Tavares, enters the box and serves Lautaro Martinez, who is ready for the occasion, further legitimizing the Nerazzurri’s dominance in the first half.
In the second half, despite the lead, Inter try to strike again: the most important chance happens at 70′ at the feet of Luis Henrique, who entered two minutes earlier for Dumfries, but the Brazilian does not find the goal from a great position. Zielinski also came close to a hat-trick in the 82nd minute: the Pole kicked first a ball initially repelled by Motta after a low cross from Thuram, but the ball ended up wide.
In fact, it was the last thrill of a triumphant final for the Nerazzurri, who in the overall tally are now in second place overall with 10 Italian Cups won, distancing Roma (whose last success dates back to 2008) at 9. Ahead is Juventus, which has lifted the trophy 15 times in its history, the last in 2024.
