At the Internazionali d’Italia, it is semifinal day and all tennis fans in the Boot are dreaming of a tricolor derby at the Foro Italico: Luciano Darderi and Jannik Sinner, the two Azzurri left in the running, must, however, overcome two very high-profile opponents, Casper Ruud and Daniil Medvedev, to realize a dream that only a few years ago could have been only the fruit of the wildest imagination of Italian fans.

Opening the dances on the Central Court will be the semifinal between Luciano Darderi, current number 20 in the ATP rankings and destined to rise further next Monday, and Casper Ruud, the rediscovered Norwegian champion who after a long difficult period due to various physical problems seems to have found himself again right in Rome, where he returns for the fourth time to the semifinals after the 2020, 2022 and 2023 editions.

The match will be played no earlier than 3:30 p.m.: the final time will depend on the women’s doubles semifinal between the pair consisting of Cristina Bucsa and Nicole Melichar-Martinez and the pair consisting of Katerina Siniakova and Taylor Townsend. The four athletes will take the court at 1:30 p.m.: at the end, after about thirty minutes have elapsed to prepare the court, the challenge between Darderi and Ruud will begin.

There is no precedent between the Argentine-born Blue and the Norwegian, not even on the youth circuit: their first-ever head-to-head will be viewable free-to-air on Tv8 (which will also stream it on its official website) and via satellite on Sky, as well as streaming on Now, for subscribers to the pay-TV sports channels.
