Simone Inzaghi, possible return to Italy after failed title in Arabia

To finish a season without knowing defeat is, for any coach, a source of great pride. An achievement that, however, loses part of its value when, at the end of the year, the title fades anyway. This is the paradox experienced by two former Inter coaches like Simone Inzaghi and Jose Mourinho. The Al Hilal led by the coach from Piacenza was not enough to close the championship undefeated: to graduate as Arab champions was the Al Nassr dragged by the Portuguese couple Cristiano Ronaldo-Jorge Jesus.

The Saudi adventure of the former Lazio and Inter coach may already be close to the end. Despite the desire to continue, the lack of success in the league could convince the Al Hilal management to change technical guidance.

In the rare statements made after his farewell to Serie A, Inzaghi has always reiterated that he is very comfortable in Riyadh and that he is not thinking, at least for now, of a return to Italy. However, something would be moving: his profile would be among Aurelio De Laurentiis’ favorites for the possible post-Antonio Conte on the Napoli bench. There would already have been an initial exploratory phone contact between the parties. The main obstacle, however, remains the salary received in Arabia: about 25 million euros per season.
