Moments of great fear for Alain Prost, the victim of a violent robbery that took place at his villa in Nyon, on the shores of Lake Geneva. According to reports in the Swiss press, a gang of thugs broke into the former Formula 1 world champion’s home on Tuesday morning, around 8:30 a.m., surprising the Frenchman and forcing one of his sons to open the safe.

In the course of the attack, Prost reportedly suffered a head injury. The value of the loot has not been officially disclosed, but early estimates speak of a potentially very large loot.

The family has not issued official statements, but the episode reportedly had a strong emotional impact, to the point of requiring the support of a specialized team for psychological assistance. In the meantime, Swiss law enforcement officials have set up checks and roadblocks on major thoroughfares, but have been unable to locate the perpetrators, who investigators say have already headed across the border to France.

Following the incident, Prost reportedly chose to leave his Nyon residence temporarily to return to Dubai, a city where he usually spends much of the year. At the same time, the public prosecutor’s office in Canton Vaud has opened an investigation to shed light on the episode.

The case is part of a broader context of targeted thefts in the region: in 2025, Canton Geneva alone recorded several similar incidents, often attributed to organized cross-border gangs specializing in heists of luxury goods, particularly high-value watch collections. Canton Vaud, where Nyon is located, has also been affected by a number of similar cases in recent months.
