At Cantù, having defined the new technical course with the return of Simone Giofrè as general manager and the arrival of Frank Vitucci in place of Walter De Raffaele, the first moves on the market could arrive soon. Staff, confirmations and exits still remain to be defined, although captain Riccardo Moraschini seems close to staying. At the same time, the club is working on the first reinforcements: one of the names – reveals the Quotidiano Nazionale – is that of J.P. Macura, the protagonist of Treviso’s salvation and much loved by the Veneto fans, also followed with interest by Udine.

The choice to bet on Vitucci is not accidental: the Venetian coach and Giofrè have already shared winning experiences in the past, first in Varese and then in Brindisi, where together they built a cycle of success that included four qualification to the playoffs scudetto and two Italian Cup finals. A proven axis, then, that the Brianza club has decided to bring back to Brianza with clear ambitions. Vitucci introduced himself with words that leave no room for doubt about the direction to be taken: “It will be important to share goals, to know who we are and where we want to go, all going in one direction.”

On the Macura front, there is no shortage of competition. The guard is back from an impactful season at NutriBullet Treviso, where he was instrumental in the Veneto’s salvation. At home in Cantù, meanwhile, the future of Oumar Ballo is also holding court. The Malian center, class of 2002, protagonist of a high-level season with the Brianzoli – 11.3 points, 8.4 rebounds and 65.6% from the field in 28 games – has attracted the interest of important clubs such as Olimpia Milano and Reyer Venezia.

According to La Provincia di Como, they would have moved decisively also from Liga ACB, with Real Madrid that would be evaluating the margins for a possible signing. A situation that Cantù will have to handle carefully in the coming weeks, aware that it could lose one of its most valuable men of the season just ended.
