Semaj Christon’s future could turn into a transfer battle between Udine and Cantù. According to La Prealpina, Apu is intent on retaining the player following his contributions during the promotion season, but at the moment, the Brianza-based team appears to have a slight edge in the race to sign the American.

He joined the team mid-season to replace Hickey after starting his career in Israel with Elitzur Netanya, Christon finished his season in Udine averaging 14 points and 5.3 assists per game, confirming himself as one of the most impactful players on the Friuli roster.

The American point guard’s impact was immediately apparent to opponents. As early as January, ahead of the matchup at the PalaLeonessa, Germani Brescia coach Matteo Cotelli had emphasized that “the addition of Semaj Christon has been a real asset, and he quickly became the main focal point for all his teammates.” Emilio Kovacic, an assistant to Peppe Poeta at Olimpia Milano, echoed this sentiment, warning his team before facing the Friulians: “The arrival of Semaj Christon, as the last five games show, has changed their season.”

For the 1992-born player, this would mark yet another stop on a long journey through Italian basketball, which has already seen him play for Vanoli Cremona, Estra Pistoia, Germani Brescia, and Tortona. A journey that has made him one of the best-known and most appreciated foreign point guards on the national basketball scene.

Before arriving in Friuli, Christon had spent some time abroad: his name had also been circulating heavily on the Italian market in November 2025, when Pallacanestro Varese was looking for a replacement for Stefan Moody. According to Super Basket, the player was one of the leading candidates for the point guard position with the Biancorossi, but in the end, the deal fell through, and Christon remained in Israel with Elitzur Ironi Natanya before accepting Udine’s offer.
