Juventus Transfer Market: The Jhon Lucumí Deal Is Done.

Juventus management continues to work on bringing in a high-caliber reinforcement for the Bianconeri’s defense, and Jhon Lucumí is among the players they are monitoring most closely. The Colombian defender could leave Bologna thanks to a €28 million buyout clause, even though his contract is set to expire in 2027.
The Piedmont-based club has already taken the first steps, putting a bid of between 18 and 20 million euros on the table, but Bologna does not seem willing to budge on the price. The deal therefore remains complex and particularly costly from a financial standpoint.
One factor pushing Juventus to act quickly is the time frame within which the buyout clause remains valid: according to Sky Sport, the deadline is set for mid-July, and once that date passes, there is a real risk of a bidding war, with Premier League clubs ready to enter the fray with their usual financial clout. This is a scenario that Juventus’s management wants to avoid at all costs.
Lucumí’s history with Bologna is, after all, already marked by a significant precedent: last summer, the Colombian was on the verge of joining Sunderland, but the transfer was blocked by Bologna following Beukema’s departure to Napoli. Since then, the defender has shown no signs of being open to renewing his contract, which expires in 2027—a stalemate that effectively forces the Emilia-based club to consider a sale.
It should also be noted that Juventus’ interest in Lucumí is not new. As early as last winter’s transfer window, Luciano Spalletti had identified the Colombian as his top defensive target, sparking a transfer battle with Roma, which had also been tracking him for some time. The Giallorossi had decided against paying the buyout clause in the summer, only to consider making another bid in the following months, before Juventus took the lead in the race for the player.
