Virtus Bologna: It’s Not All Goodbyes—Guard Marcus Carr’s Arrival Is Official

Virtus Bologna isn’t just saying goodbye to some of its key players. On the day that Nicola Akele became a new player for Armani Olimpia Milano, the Bologna-based club officially announced the signing of Marcus Carr.
Here is the club’s official statement: “Virtus Pallacanestro Bologna S.p.A. announces that it has reached a multi-year agreement with an option with Marcus Carr.
A 1.88m Canadian point guard, Marcus is coming off a highly successful season in Germany and the Champions League with Würzburg. In the Bundesliga, the 1999-born player stood out for his efficiency and impact, averaging 17.3 points and 5.7 assists. But he performed even better in the Champions League, despite the German team’s run ending in the Top 16 round: he averaged 17.5 points, 6.7 assists, and 3.2 rebounds. Furthermore, since 2024, Carr has been a regular on his national team, giving him another opportunity to shine; in this season’s World Cup qualifiers, he averaged 27.8 minutes per game, along with 17 points, 7 assists, and 3.3 rebounds. Virtus Bologna officially welcomes Marcus to the big black-and-white family.”
A crucial addition for the new Virtus Bologna, now under the guidance of coach Alex Mumbrù. Marcus Carr will be a key player for the V Nere. Of course, more signings are expected in the coming days from the V Nere, who, little by little, are putting together a decidedly intriguing roster.
