Jannik Sinner expressed his satisfaction with his victory over Jan-Lennard Struff in the quarterfinals of the Wimbledon tournament. The South Tyrolean tennis player won in three sets, conserving his energy ahead of the challenging semifinal that awaits him. In his post-match interview, the Italian said he was pleased with his performance on the court.

“It was very tough against Struff; he’s a difficult opponent and deserves everything he’s achieved in his career. He started off better than I did; I was struggling a bit, but then I got into the match and served better. I stayed mentally focused, and I’m happy to be back in the semifinals. The second set could have gone either way—there’s a big difference between winning that set and losing it—and in the third set I was more relaxed. I’m glad I closed it out in three sets, but it was tough.”

When asked about the heat—one of his biggest concerns—Sinner replied: “We worked hard after Paris to figure out what had happened; we prepared as best we could, and today I felt comfortable. I hope it never happens to me again, but if it does, we’ll have to make some changes. For now, I’m enjoying the semifinals.”

Jannik Sinner will return to the court on Saturday for the semifinals of the third Grand Slam of the season, where he’ll face either Novak Djokovic or Felix Auger-Aliassime.

With this victory, Sinner reaches his third career semifinal at Wimbledon, confirming his extraordinary consistency on the London grass: this marks his fifth consecutive year among the top eight at the Championships. In Major quarterfinals, the Italian has lost only five of the sixteen matches he’s played—all against top-5 opponents—a testament to his resilience in the decisive stages of Grand Slams. For Struff, meanwhile, this was his first-ever appearance in the quarterfinals of a Grand Slam—a historic milestone for the German, currently ranked No. 74 in the ATP rankings.
