Milan Transfer Market: Amorim Celebrates—The Second Signing of the Summer Is a Done Deal

Milan is stealing the spotlight in this first part of the summer transfer window. After securing Portuguese national team forward Gonçalo Ramos from PSG, the Rossoneri have pulled off their second signing of the summer, this time on defense.
Negotiations with Lazio for defender Mario Gila—who was also on Napoli’s radar—have concluded successfully. After several days of back-and-forth with Lazio president Claudio Lotito, the deal was given the green light, according to La Gazzetta dello Sport.
Milan broke through the Roman club’s resistance after submitting a new offer of 28 million euros, including bonuses, which was close to Lotito’s initial asking price, and he finally agreed. The player had already reached an agreement some time ago with the Milan club, with which he will sign a five-season contract worth approximately 4.5 million euros per year. Gila will arrive at Milanello on Monday, July 13, for the start of the Rossoneri’s training camp, where they will be coached by Ruben Amorim for the first time.
The Rafael Leao situation is also a hot topic at Milan. The Portuguese winger, who has returned from the World Cup in North America, does not fit into Amorim’s plans, and the club is seeking buyers for him. According to Il Messaggero, the Rossoneri have offered the player to Roma on loan with an obligation to buy for around 60 million euros, while in recent hours Barcelona has also shown interest, though this has been dampened by Milan’s valuation and the club’s firm refusal to accept deals with an option to buy.
