Romelu Lukaku is about to leave Napoli. After a season to forget, the Belgian striker no longer fits into the Azzurri’s plans, and the club intends to sell him during this transfer window. The former Inter player has not yet returned from his post-World Cup vacation and may never do so: an initial offer for his transfer has been received.

According to reports in *La Gazzetta dello Sport*, MLS club Atlanta United has stepped forward to sign the player, who, in turn, is reportedly ready to leave Europe to finish his career in the golden years of the American league, alongside top-tier names like Lionel Messi and Robert Lewandowski.

The biggest obstacle now is Napoli’s asking price, as the club wants at least 11 million euros for the player’s transfer. At the same time, the Neapolitan club wants to offload Lukaku’s hefty salary as soon as possible and might decide to let him go for a lower offer, perhaps with certain clauses and bonuses.

At Napoli since 2024, Lukaku has won one Serie A title under Mount Vesuvius. Last season, he played just five league games, scoring one goal. Various physical issues, along with his determination to play for Belgium at the World Cup in North America at all costs, held him back.
