A new adventure for Jenni Hermoso. The Spanish soccer player, a 2023 World Cup champion, will be leaving Tigres Femenil. The Mexican club itself made the announcement.

“I’m leaving Tigres very happy for everything I’ve experienced, but also sad, of course, because I don’t like saying goodbye. At the same time, I’m fully aware that this has been the best thing that’s ever happened to me,” the 36-year-old said with tears in her eyes in a video posted on X.

Throughout her career, she has also played for Atlético Madrid, Barcelona, and PSG. This new turning point in her career comes three years after the Luis Rubiales incident, an event that profoundly marked her career and the entire Spanish soccer scene. After Spain’s victory at the 2023 World Cup, Rubiales, then president of the Spanish Football Federation, kissed her on the mouth without her consent during the awards ceremony.

The incident sparked massive international controversy and subsequently led to Rubiales stepping down from his position, among other consequences.
