A2 case: dunk breaks the basket, toward 0-20 forfeit
A singular incident suspends the challenge between Trapani and Rieti: the sports judge will decide
Marco Timperi’s dunk ends Kienergia Rieti’s trip to Trapani. The basket bends, officials have difficulty with the substitution, and the game is permanently stopped. Probable 0-20 forfeit for Rieti: a maximum of 30 minutes is allowed by regulation to fix the equipment. The result is awaited approval by the sports judge.
The match begins with the dominance of the hosts. Kienergia puts in the first basket and then suffers a 16-0 partial by a Trapani that defends well and plays on the wings of enthusiasm dragged by Mollura’s 14 and Massone’s 10. Rieti’s defense is not there and the gap widens to -23. Zugno from long range tries to play the charge but the gap goes to rest at -20.
Kienergia’s reaction comes in the third quarter, and it bears the signature of Maglietti. The Italian-Argentine inspires and finishes, and the guests go back down by 10. Trapani loses Carter for five fouls and sticks to captain Mollura, who drives back any attempt by Rieti to get even closer. In the last and decisive partial comes the stop for replacing the iron, bent by Timperi on a dunk. But the officials have problems and the contest is thus suspended for good.
