Federica Brignone Can’t Shake Her Doubts

Federica Brignone is still on hold. The Italian champion has not yet decided whether to move to Argentina, where the Italian national team’s training sessions will begin next September. “We’ll decide later, not right away.”

“I’m feeling great right now; during these two or three weeks in August, I’ve been training harder than I’ve been able to all summer. I’m fairly optimistic about next season—if I weren’t, I wouldn’t have prepared this way, and I wouldn’t be in such good physical shape. I’d like to have fun and be able to perform at my highest level. If I’m not able to do that comfortably, without major pain—if I have to fight through pain at every turn like last year—I won’t do it,” the Olympic champion told ANSA.

“After the Olympics, it was a disaster; I limped for almost two months and had to start over—not exactly from scratch, but from quite far back. Now, over the last three weeks, I’ve been able to do even more dynamic exercises, and I’m really happy.” The two-time gold medalist at the Milan-Cortina Olympics is following a personalized training program with her coach and is constantly monitored at J Medical: “I’m finally making good progress, and after three months of training, I’m seeing results—even in terms of pain.”

Her national team teammates Sofia Goggia, Marta Bassino, and Laura Pirovano will arrive in Ushuaia, Argentina, in the coming days, where they will train until the end of September. Brignone remains the only one who has not yet confirmed her participation in the South American training camp, following—as planned—a personalized program tailored to how her knee is responding. On paper, the goal remains to be ready for a season that will culminate in the World Championships in Crans-Montana, scheduled for February 2027.
