When Lorenzo Musetti Plays in Cincinnati: His Head-to-Head Record Against Frances Tiafoe

He has finally regained some consistency in his results (six wins in the eight matches he has played since returning to the court in late July, with the last three coming in a row) Lorenzo Musetti is set to compete in the quarterfinals of the Cincinnati Open against one of the tournament’s many home-grown players, Frances Tiafoe. Both have recently been ranked in the ATP Top 10 and are counting heavily on the tournament in Ohio to reignite their ambitions ahead of the US Open.
The match between Lorenzo Musetti and Frances Tiafoe, a quarterfinal match at the 2026 Cincinnati Open, will take place at 1 a.m. Italian time on the night between Friday and Saturday (7 p.m. local time on Friday). Fans can watch it on TV and via streaming on the Sky platform (Sky Sport and NOW) or on Tennis TV, the ATP’s official streaming service. There are no plans for free-to-air broadcasts of the event.
Musetti and Tiafoe have faced each other six times on the ATP Tour, with their head-to-head record perfectly even: the player from Carrara won in Acapulco in 2021 (2-6, 6-3, 7-6 in the round of 16), in Rome in 2023 (5-7, 6-4, 6-3 in the round of 32), and at Roland Garros in 2025 (6-2, 4-6, 7-5, 6-2 in the quarterfinals), while the American won by retirement after taking the first set 6-2 at the 2023 United Cup (one of the matches in the final between Italy and the United States), in the quarterfinals in Stuttgart in 2023 (6-7, 7-6, 6-2) and in the round of 16 at Cincinnati in 2024 (6-3, 6-2).
In this edition of the Cincinnati Open, Lorenzo Musetti defeated Daniel Altmaier 6-4, 6-2, Michael Zheng 6-1, 6-3, and Jaime Faria 7-5, 6-2 in earlier rounds. Frances Tiafoe, on the other hand, defeated Lorenzo Sonego 6-3, 6-4, Learner Tien 6-4, 4-6, 6-4, and Felix Auger-Aliassime 6-3, 6-4.
