Bertolucci has no doubts about Lorenzo Musetti and Jannik Sinner

Former tennis player and Sky commentator Paolo Bertolucci, speaking on his podcast *La Telefonata*, discussed Lorenzo Musetti’s second-round loss at the U.S. Open to Dane Sweeny, comparing it to Jannik Sinner’s famous collapse at Roland Garros.

“Musetti met the same fate as Sinner in Paris; he completely ran out of steam physically,” Bertolucci pointed out. “His opponent wasn’t playing badly, but he’s never been ranked in the top 120. He’s just starting out. Unfortunately, Musetti had this problem. He said he couldn’t react, that the air conditioning combined with the heat outside… these things happen. It’s happened to me, too. It’s a shame.”

Bertolucci then spoke about the unique situation with the US Open crowd: “The chaos on Center Court is unimaginable. It’s the price you pay when you expand the audience: all sorts of people show up…”

On the Italian front, meanwhile, the night also brought some good news: Luciano Darderi secured his spot in the round of 16 by defeating Dane Sweeny in straight sets, 6-4, 6-3, 6-3, in less than two and a quarter hours. This commanding victory allows the Italian-Argentine—the last Italian remaining in the tournament following Flavio Cobolli’s elimination—to face Alexander Zverev in the round of 16 at the New York tournament.
