Rome Transfer Market: Turkey Is Also in the Running for the Top Free Agent

The recently concluded transfer window brought Rodrigo Mora, Santiago Castro, Konstantinos Koulierakis, and Nahuel Molina to Rome. Gian Piero Gasperini wanted to strengthen the offense above all else, but it cannot be ruled out that the club will also look to the list of free agents to bolster the midfield.

Roma has set its sights on Yves Bissouma, who has been a free agent since July following his stint at Tottenham. The 1996-born player could be a useful backup for Gasperini, especially given the dual commitments of the league and the Champions League. As a free agent, he’s certainly an interesting option, but Roma need to speed things up.

According to Turkish media reports, several Süper Lig clubs have set their sights on Bissouma and could make a move to sign him soon. The player, who was also linked to Juventus before the Bianconeri finalized a deal for Pape Matar Sarr, is a defensive midfielder, and his imposing physical build makes him a valuable asset in defense.

In recent days, there has also been talk of a possible transfer to Roma for Jadon Sancho, a player looking to bounce back after several very difficult years. The need to make moves in the free-agent market stems from a summer transfer window that left the Giallorossi with more than a few regrets. D’Amico himself, during a press conference in Trigoria, admitted to the missed opportunities: “We had closed the deal for Leweling. There was a full agreement with the player and with Stuttgart, but then he changed his mind at the last minute.”
