Laila Hasanovic, Jannik Sinner’s girlfriend, had a close call

During the weekend of the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, every detail came under the microscope of the media and social media. At Monza, on the other hand, this is always the case, as the Formula 1 race weekend creates a hyper-exposed environment where every gesture, every glance, and every photo can turn into viral content in a matter of minutes. And precisely for this reason, paradoxically, Laila Hasanovic’s decision not to accompany Jannik Sinner to the paddock proved to be a winning move.

The Danish model, the Italian champion’s girlfriend, was not by the world’s number-one tennis player’s side in the Brianza paddock. Unlike in December 2025, when she had accompanied Sinner to Abu Dhabi, this time Laila chose a completely different setting: the Venice Film Festival, where she walked the red carpet. Her presence in Venice kept Laila within an environment she knows well and shielded her from any surprises.

In Monza, however, it would have been a whole different story. The Italian Grand Prix paddock is a place where sports, celebrities, influencers, cameras, and millions of eyes come together, ready to catch every detail. This is demonstrated by the case of Laura Pausini, who found herself at the center of a viral debate over a simple photo retouch, as well as the photo of Kimi Antonelli twirling a strand of spaghetti from the trophy, which immediately became a global meme. More generally, it’s demonstrated by the speed with which any content related to the Grand Prix takes off on social media.

In such a context, Laila’s presence would inevitably have drawn attention: comparisons to the past and to her previous relationship with Mick Schumacher, analysis of her look, and speculation about the couple. All of this would have been amplified and immediate—potentially difficult to manage. The fact that she was in Venice, busy with fashion shows and red carpets, prevented all of this. Laila kept the narrative on a natural track without any detours, especially without the massive exposure that Monza inevitably brings with it.

And while Sinner enjoyed being mobbed by fans in the paddock—accompanied by his father Hanspeter and welcomed like a superstar—Laila experienced a weekend that was more straightforward and consistent with her public image, far from potential social media storms.
