BC Roma Brings Mike D’Antoni Back to Italy

According to La Prealpina, Mike D’Antoni will be involved in BC Roma’s new project and will serve on the board of directors of the Rome-based club. Recently inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame, D’Antoni has been one of the most innovative coaches in modern basketball, becoming famous above all for his “Seven Seconds or Less” offensive system, the foundations of which had already been tested during his time with Olimpia Milano.

The Rome-based club is thus continuing to strengthen its organization ahead of its first, historic participation in the LBA and the EuroCup, making changes not only to the team but also to the management structure.

According to reports in the Varese-based newspaper, the club has also reached an agreement with Bryan Colangelo, former general manager of the Phoenix Suns and the Philadelphia 76ers and currently a minority owner of Cagliari alongside his longtime friend Edoardo Bulgheroni.
Colangelo will serve as an advisor to the owners and will represent BC Roma at Lega Basket meetings. A highly experienced NBA executive, he has worked in Phoenix, Toronto, and Philadelphia throughout his career. While with the Raptors, he played a key role in selecting Andrea Bargnani with the first overall pick in the 2006 NBA Draft, before being named NBA Executive of the Year the following year.
