Marc Marquez is sick of the same old question

Having made a strong comeback in the race for the 2026 MotoGP World Championship thanks to his back-to-back wins at Motorland Aragon, Marc Marquez is ready to give it his all at Misano as well to further narrow the gap behind overall standings leader Jorge Martin, who holds a 19-point lead heading into the Misano weekend. However, Marquez has been in the news recently for another reason: his physical condition following the surgeries he’s undergone in recent years, with a follow-up procedure this season as well.

A photo of his shoulder—which has undergone multiple surgeries—posted on social media by the Catalan Ducati rider in recent days raised more than a few questions. He explained the reasoning behind it at a press conference: “I was getting a little tired of the same old questions; they asked me them in Aragon, too. When people speculate on a topic, the best thing to do is to shut them up—that’s why I posted the photo. I feel good, I’m competitive, and I give it my all every race weekend—the rest doesn’t matter.”

Márquez also spoke about what he expects from the weekend at Misano: “It’s not a track like Aragon, where I could set a specific goal: here, first of all, I need to understand the Aprilia’s potential; then I have to give 100 percent and see what results I can achieve by Sunday. We’re approaching the end of the season: the key to these final races will be to always try to be the fastest, even if it means taking some risks. Some riders are more consistent, while others have higher peak speeds. I’ll simply have to ride my best.”

Marc Marquez, born in 1993, started the 2026 season with several issues, mainly physical ones, to the point that he was forced to miss the Sunday race at Le Mans and the entire Barcelona weekend due to injury. Since his return, however, he has won five regular races and three Sprints, capitalizing on a inconsistent stretch of the season for Jorge Martin and Marco Bezzecchi to put himself back in the World Championship hunt.

The Catalan rider is aiming for his tenth overall title: this would put him ahead of Carlo Ubbiali, Mike Hailwood, and Valentino Rossi—all of whom, like him, have nine titles—and bring him closer to Angel Nieto’s thirteen and Giacomo Agostini’s fifteen. Furthermore, by winning the 2026 title, Márquez would tie Agostini at eight titles in the premier class (“Ago” won his in the 500cc class; Márquez has raced only in the MotoGP era).
