Trapani Shark, FIP, and the Basketball League are in agreement following the latest developments in the matter

In a joint statement released on Friday, the Italian Basketball Federation (FIP) and the Serie A Basketball League (LBA) expressed unanimous satisfaction with the Council of State’s decision regarding the Trapani Shark case and the legal battle waged by Valerio Antonini through the Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR).

“The FIP and the LBA —the statement reads—announce that the Council of State has ruled on the interlocutory appeals filed by Trapani Shark and Valerio Antonini against the dismissal orders issued by the Lazio Regional Administrative Court regarding the measures to exclude them from the 2025–26 Serie A championship and revoke their affiliation. The Lazio Regional Administrative Court has been asked to promptly schedule the final hearing to address the merits of the appeals. In its preliminary ruling on the interim measures, the Council of State found no defects in the contested measures.”

“The FIP and the LBA express their satisfaction with this initial outcome, which allows for the regular and imminent start of the leagues, and hope that the Regional Administrative Court will promptly schedule the hearing, confident that the legality of the measures will soon be confirmed following the conclusion of the proceedings within its jurisdiction,” conclude the two leading governing bodies of Italian basketball.
