Ferrari, Leclerc, and Hamilton Aren’t Satisfied

It was a positive Friday for Ferrari, which placed its two drivers in second and third place during the second free practice session on the brand-new track in Madrid. Charles Leclerc, second behind Andrea Kimi Antonelli, remains on his guard despite the initial positive impressions. After the disappointment at Monza, the driver from the Principality is working toward an immediate comeback.

“So I’m expecting a significant improvement over the course of the weekend. Our goal today was to complete as many laps as possible and gather as much data as we could—both to get to know the track better and to prepare for qualifying, which will likely be the key moment of the weekend. I was quite impressed by the level of grip we found right from the start, considering that this is a completely new track and there’s still very little rubber on the asphalt.”

Third place went to Lewis Hamilton, who, like Leclerc, expects improvements: “This track is fun to drive, and the first session was a good starting point for us. As the day went on, we struggled a bit more to get the car into the right performance window, so there are some areas we need to analyze, particularly regarding the car’s balance.”

“It’s a new circuit for everyone, and today we collected a lot of useful data, which we’ll analyze tonight. There are definitely some positives, and we’ll work to take a step forward,” concluded the seven-time world champion.
