Serie A: Frosinone Comes Close to a Win in Genoa

The first Saturday match of Serie A’s fourth round ended in a draw: at the Ferraris Stadium, Genoa and Frosinone tied 1-1 with goals from Kvernadze for Frosinone and Vasquez for Genoa, who also missed a penalty kick by Colombo late in the first half. In the standings, the Grifone earned their first point, while Frosinone moved up to 7 points.

Genoa equalized early in the second half, however: after a scare at the start from Raimondo, who nearly made it 0-2 for Frosinone on a counterattack, the Rossoblù tied the game at 1-1 off a corner kick. On Sow’s corner kick, Vasquez beat everyone to the ball and beat Palmisani.

The match remained evenly balanced: in the 65th minute, Kvernadze had a great chance to double the lead, but Bijlow denied him; in the 70th minute, Colombo tested Palmisani with a long-range shot.
