Amedeo Della Valle reflects on the final moments of the game against Trieste: “We wanted to target Candussi, but then…”

Amedeo Della Valle, in an interview with La Prealpina, expressed his satisfaction with his official debut for Varese, which came with a victory over Trieste: “I’m extremely happy to have done my part to help my teammates win this game. It wasn’t the performance of a star player, but it couldn’t have gone any other way after everything that’s happened to me in recent months.”
Della Valle, who returned from a knee injury that had sidelined him in recent weeks, described the final possession of the game against Trieste: “We started out planning to attack Candussi on the defensive switch, then the ball came to me; I thought the shot was going in, but then it went out… On the free throws, I wanted to make the first two and miss the third, and that’s exactly how it went.”
“I’m happy to have given some joy to a crowd that has really supported us so much; playing in this atmosphere makes me feel alive, and I’m extremely grateful for this support.”
“I’m heading home happy because I’ve finally managed to get back to doing what I love,” Della Valle continued. “It’s been a really tough four months—and that’s not just a cliché. I want to put the hard times behind me and focus on the good things, like what happened on Saturday. I was called upon to take on these responsibilities, and I managed to make a decisive impact in my debut; maybe next time it won’t be the same, but for now I’m enjoying the celebrations with the Varese fans.”
