Serse Cosmi: The Surreal Interview Goes Viral—Here’s What Happened

An unexpected incident marked the post-game proceedings following the Casarano-Salernitana match, a Serie C Group C game played on Sunday that ended in a 0-0 draw. During the customary interviews with RAI reporters, Salernitana coach Serse Cosmi abruptly cut short his remarks due to some booing coming from the stands, while the reporter next to him hurriedly took his leave, abandoning his spot beside the coach.

Cosmi was analyzing his team’s performance, focusing on missed opportunities and the difficulties encountered during the match, when the situation took an unexpected turn. A few words shouted from the stands did not sit well with the coach from Ponte San Giovanni, who cut short his analysis without resuming it, staring icily at the stands.

The moment of obvious awkwardness also took the reporter conducting the interview by surprise; he was left speechless for a few seconds before quickly wrapping up the segment. It was precisely the reporter’s reaction that became one of the most talked-about aspects of the incident. In the video, which quickly went viral, the interview can be seen ending abruptly, with the reporter stepping out of the frame and Cosmi remaining motionless, focused on observing what was happening in the stands.

Even sports satire pages, such as ‘La Ragione di Stato’, shared this unusual episode on their channels, garnering thousands of likes and dozens of comments.
