Legendary former player Alessandro Ramagli returns to Bologna with a clear understanding: “Virtus has already found its chemistry.”

A young Bologna team, one that has undergone a profound transformation and is capable of playing at a particularly fast pace. This is the picture painted by Tezenis Verona coach Alessandro Ramagli ahead of the game scheduled for Monday, November 9, at 8:00 p.m. at the PalaDozza.

The coach analyzed the characteristics of the Bologna team, which is undergoing a major rebuilding process but is already capable of executing a clear playing philosophy. “Bologna is a team in the midst of a rebuilding process: a 15-player roster, 10 of whom were born after 2000,” explained Ramagli, also highlighting the importance of Daniel Hackett, considered “a big brother” and “the only truly experienced player who still makes a major impact.”

It is precisely the athletic freshness and energy of the many young players that represent some of the Emilian team’s main strengths. “It’s a completely revamped team, with its own unique style of play,” emphasized the coach, highlighting the roster’s versatility, physical intensity, and propensity for fast-paced basketball.

Bologna has managed to forge this identity in a relatively short time, despite the many new faces. “I think we started the season by finding a chemistry that was, in some ways, unexpected,” Ramagli added.

Recent performances, however, point to some difficulties. In the span of a week, the team suffered three consecutive home losses: the heavy defeat against Žalgiris, the “honestly dramatic” setback against Beşiktaş and, most recently, Monday’s loss to Trieste. This losing streak, however, does not diminish the potential of the Bologna team, an opponent to be faced with the utmost focus.

Ramagli therefore emphasized the need to prepare for the game in detail, identifying the most effective countermeasures to limit the opponents’ strengths. “The guidelines they play by are very clear, just as our game plan to be competitive must be clear,” the coach concluded.

Hired in the summer of 2016 to lead the club following its historic relegation to Serie A2, Ramagli achieved the goal of immediate revival in his first year (the 2016–2017 season). Under his leadership, the Vu Nere won both the Serie A2 Italian Cup and promotion to Serie A1. He then led the Bologna-based team through the following season (2017–2018) in the top division, concluding his tenure on the Bianconeri bench at the end of the season.
