Beaver Creek, Innerhofer and Casse lead the way
Good Innerhofer and Casse
Austria’s Otmar Stiedinger won the first time trial on Beaver Creek’s Bird’s of Prey with a time of 1’42″09, ahead of a brilliant Christof Innerhofer, 40 hundredths off but very fast in the final part. Fifth was an excellent Mattia Casse, tied with Johan Clarey, 71 hundredths from the top, ahead of Broderick Thompson on bib 49, 58 hundredths behind Striedinger and Germany’s Romed Baumann at 67. That was followed by Cochran-Siegle and Mayer, reflecting a tight race in the Colorado resort.
“I’ve been waiting so many months to race again,” Innerhofer said, “and finally we’re here. Everything is going well, I’m happy to be here in Beaver Creek and I feel very good.”
20th place for Dominik Paris at 1″58 from first, while for Guglielmo Bosca came 31st at 1″89 and for Florian Schieder 36th at 1″98. Far from thirty were Matteo Franzoso, Nicolò Molteni and Matteo Marsaglia, who also made a mistake, as did Emanuele Buzzi, Giovanni Franzoni and Pietro Zazzi. Today’s trial was delayed by two hours for the track setup. A second round is scheduled for Thursday with a 6 p.m. (Italian time) start.
