Pierre Rolland explains why he decided to retire
Pierre Rolland has decided to end his professional cycling career. He did so with an announcement via social media on Tuesday, just days after retiring from competition from the team he was linked to, B#38;B Hotels.
In the video released via the Internet, the 36-year-old Frenchman explained, “I hoped to race for a while longer, but fate decided differently. I can say that I am happy with my professional career, I have many projects in mind and I want to start a new chapter in my life.”
Rolland, whose palmarès includes-among other successes-a fourth place at the 2014 Giro d’Italia and a stage win in Canazei in 2017, admitted that he had offers to continue. “I decided, however, to advise those who sought me out to focus on younger athletes,” he said, confirming that he would not seek other accommodations.
