Superleague dream revived after Madrid ruling

After the ruling of the Commercial Court of Madrid (no to the monopoly of FIFA and UEFA), the Superleague project is making a comeback. Reichart, CEO of A22, the company promoting the Superleague, highlighted the need within Europe for a new way of doing soccer: “Last October we started an open process of dialogue on the future of European soccer. Since then we have talked to nearly 50 clubs and other players in the industry, and the conclusion shared by almost everyone is that the foundations on which European soccer is built are seriously threatened. The time has come to make changes,” his words to El Pais.

There is one point that, more than others, rattles the current leadership of European soccer: European club competitions should be governed by clubs, as they are at the national level, and not by third parties who benefit from the system without taking any risk.
