Ducati VR46 team centaur and Valentino Rossi’s brother Luca Marini in an interview with Relevo spoke about the success of Academy riders in MotoGp in recent years, with Pecco Bagnaia, Marco Bezzecchi, Franco Morbidelli and Marini himself starring.

“Definitely Valentino didn’t think all four of us would make it in MotoGP, it was a nice surprise. Vale’s role was very important when he was racing and we were not yet in MotoGP, because we had him as a reference. But then the reference changed: in 2020 it was Morbidelli, so now Pecco has made the big leap.”

On comparisons with his illustrious brother: “I don’t get tired of it, it’s part of my life and I like it that way. What changes is that Vale raced in a very different era of MotoGP than this one, so now it’s very difficult to make comparisons.”
