US Open women: prohibitive draw for Camila Giorgi
If the draw for the US Open men’s draw canò be considered difficult for Jannik Sinner, the draw for the women’s draw canò rightly be called terrible for most of the Azzurri.
The only exceptions are Elisabetta Cocciaretto, number 1 in Italy and 29 in the world, who will face a girl from the qualifiers, and for Martina Trevisan, number 53, who will have Kazakhstan’s Yulia Putintseva, number 79.
Very difficult if not prohibitive pairings for the others. Jasmine Paolini for example, number 35, will haveà Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko, number 20. Lucia Bronzetti, number 82, will face Czech Barbora Krejcikova.
Most importantly, Camila Giorgi, number 52, will have to face U.S. Jessica Pegula, world number 3 and recent winner in Montreal.
