National tennis team captain Filippo Volandri in a press conference clarified the situation of Jannik Sinner, defending the Azzurro from criticism: "We wish Jannik a speedy recovery, we know how much he cares for Davis, he has already proved it. Volandri also explained his choice to give up Fabio Fognini, who blustered over his exclusion: "The choice to give up Fabio stems from the’need to have available players who give me maximum guarantees. The injuries of this period have convinced me to take other paths, I am convinced that Fabio will return soon to the levels that belong to him".
