F1, Ferrari: Carlos Sainz takes responsibility
He will start ahead of teammate Leclerc
He did better than teammate Charles Leclerc and was about to take his second pole after Silverstone, but Carlos Sainz was mocked in Hungarian GP qualifying by George Russell by just 44 thousandths.
The Ferrarista commented on Q3 as follows, “I always feel better with the car. Today I felt I had the pace to take pole, but it got away from us in the last sector. I made a few mistakes. I congratulate George, he had a really good lap with his car. Anyway, mine is a very good result.”
Sainz then talked about his chances for victory: “We have the pace. The start and tire management will play a key role. The pace of the Mercedes is an unknown and we will have to see how the race develops,” the Spaniard added. If we can pass them at the start better, it will be an exciting race.
