Giacomo Nizzolo, successful operation: long stop expected
Giacomo Nizzolo canò begin rehabilitation
The Q36.5 ProCycling Team announced on Wednesday that the operation Giacomo Nizzolo underwent last Dec. 27 to treat a tibia fracture that the two-time Italian road champion got in training went well: the 1989-class cyclist has left the Swiss facility where he è was operated on and can è begin a rehabilitation that is expected to be quite long, althoughé the team has not provided more precise indications.
"The 34-year-old Italian – reads the official channels of the Q36.5 ProCycling Team – è was successfully operated in the Kantonsspital Graubünden in Chur, Switzerland, on December 27 and è was discharged four days later". Nizzolo, therefore, è trned; home in time for New Year’s Eve, although his team preferred to spread the news later.
Lorenz Emmert, chief medical officer of the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team, gave an account of the incident:"On December 23, Giacomo Nizzolo had an accident, fracturing the tibial plateau of his right leg. He è underwent surgery and was later discharged from the hospital. The healing and rehabilitation process è already started. We are confident in the possibility of returning him to his usual level of performance in the coming months, as soon as he is fully recovered".
Giacomo Nizzolo, therefore, will not participate in the upcoming Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team training camp in Calpe, Spain, scheduled for Jan. 11 to 22, 2024. The Milanese rider will therefore have to wait a few months before making his debut in the new uniform, which he will wear after two years at Israel-Premier Tech.
