Settebello knocked out but in the quarters
Italy-Hungary 5-10
Group B for the Settebello ended with a defeat. The Azzurri, in fact, surrendered to Hungary, which è imposed itself with a net 10-5 on the fifth day of the European Championships in Croatia. Despite the defeat, Italy still qualified for the quarterfinals, but from second due to goal difference.
“We played a bad game making a lot of mistakes, especially in the final phase,‖ stressed coach Alessandro Campagna. But I would repeat the choices made. I preferred to stop Di Fulvio to allow him to recover and increase the minutes of other players. If we were to cross Croatia at their home it would mean that we deserved it. Now we have three days to work, compare and be ready for the quarterfinals".
The Settebello will return to play on Friday, Jan. 12, at 8:15 p.m. with the winner between Montenegro (third in Group A) and the second in Group C (probably Germany) scheduled for Jan. 10 at 8:15 p.m. in Zagreb. Now the Azzurri are expected to have three days off, which they will use to continue training with double shifts and gym sessions.
