Season over for Petra Vlhova
Season over for Petra Vlhova
Very bad news for Petra Vlhova. The Slovakian star, the victim of a bad fall near the ninth gate during the first run of the women’s giant slalom in Jasna in front of her own audience, suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate and medial collateral of her right knee.
It was a very hard blow for the Olympic slalom champion who will thus be forced to skip the rest of the season, in which she had already scored three slalom victories (Levi, Courchevel and Kranjska Gora) and was only 25 points behind Mikaela Shiffrin in the World Cup specialty ranking.
"Thank you all for the tremendous support. I think I can cope with everything. Lotterò to get back on skis as soon as possible" the message from the champion of the crystal ball winner in 2021.
Vlhova wasn't the only one to fall in the Jasna stage. Italian Federica Brignone è also ended up on the ground, but fortunately she did not suffer any physical damage. For the record, to triumph in the women’s giant in Slovakia è was Sweden’s Sara Hector, who took her fifth career World Cup victory, boasting an impressive 1"52 over Mikaela Shiffrin, with New Zealand’s Alice Robinson in third (2"71).
