The second part of the World Cup finals in Saalbach, Austria, opened with the best time for Germany’s Kira Weidle in the first timed run ahead of the women’s downhill on Saturday: fourth time for Nicol Delago and eighth for Federica Brignone.
The German set the stopwatch on’1’44″64 with a 0″27 and 0″50 margin over the two Austrians Ariane Rädler and Cornelia Hutter, while Delago was 0″78 behind, followed by Norway’s Kajsa Vickhoff Lie (+0″81) and the U.S. Jaqueline Wiles (+1″07). Federica Brignone è then placed eighth in the ranking with a gap of 1″36 from Weidle, followed by Laura Pirovano, author of the’eleventh time at 1″78; nineteenth time finally for Marta Bassino (+2″43).
The specialty ranking sees Lara Gut Behrami (18th time today) in the lead with 369 points ahead of injured Sofia Goggia (350) and Austrian Stephanie Venier at 301. Thursday, March 21 è is scheduled for the second time trial before the two super-Gs scheduled for Friday.
