Matteo Berrettini, what a debut in Marrakech: crashed Shevchenko
ATP Marrakech: Matteo Berrettini crashes Shevchenko
Matteo Berrettini, making his comeback on clay, impressed in the first round of the Marrakech ATP 250. The Roman tennis player, in fact, crashed Kazakhstan's Alexander Shevchenko, number 56 in the ATP ranking and sixth seed in the seeding, defeated 6-2 6-1 after just under an hour and a quarter of play.
Berrettini got off to a strong start immediately and took the serve away from his opponent in the opening game. The Roman, relentless on serve, repeated the break lead in the fifth game and closed out the first set 6-2. The second partial was also without history, in which the Italian had the luxury of breaking the Kazakh three times, leaving him with only one game.
Berrettini thus reaches the round of 16 of the 'Grand Prix Hassan II' where he will face Spanish Jaume Munar, number 73 in the world rankings.
