Luca Nardi: first joy on grass in s-Hertogenbosch
ATP 's-Hertogenbosch: Luca Nardi-David Goffin 7-5 7-5
Luca Nardi's adventure at the 'ATP 250 in 's-Hertogenbosch begins in the best possible way. The Italian, in fact, won over Belgian David Goffin with a score of 7-5 7-5, in just over two hours of play, centering his first career success on the grass.
The match started immediately uphill for the Italian, as the rival immediately broke serve and ran away on 3-0. In the fourth game, the Pesaro native is saved thanks to an error by Goffin. From that moment, Nardi managed to get into the match and bring the score back to even. In the eighth game, after as many as three double faults and four break points conceded, the 20-year-old player managed to keep his serve and in the 11th game he placed the decisive extension, winning the partial 7-5.
In the second set è the Azure first to break serve in the third game. Between the eighth and tenth games came three consecutive breaks in a mini 2-1 run that allowed Goffin to bring himself back in touch. As happened in the first act, the 11th game once again proves decisive for Nardi, as he regained the lead and then closed on the first match point.
In the next round, the Pesaro native will face the winner of the match between the American Sebastian Korda (number seven seed) and Australian Tristan Schoolkate.
