Gigio Donnarumma, mental coach responds to critics
Interviewed by Corriere della Sera, the mental coach (among others) of Gianluigi Donnarumma Nicoletta Romanazzi spoke about the Italian goalkeeper: "È a sensitive, good, emotional guy. And so sometimes he used to get nervous, but this work has helped him recognize himself, his strengths, learn to enter the state of maximum concentration, the one where you exclude everything external. And also to recognize all his emotions, without being moreù afraid of fear".
"Expectations are terrible and they look for strategies to be always performing. This però is not good: if we are too focused on the goal to be achieved with sweat and effort, we get to a certain point where we don't enjoy it, we stiffen up, we don't celebrate the results. All this creates fatigue and tension, even to the point of injury. Balance is found with moments of respite, rest and fun with friends. One must become aware that criticism is a normal thing and one should not surrender one's power to the outside world: I trust my judgment and those who can be useful to me".
Donnarumma è often much criticized but Nicoletta Romanazzi relaunched: "So many things have been underestimated. One expects these guys to be superheroes and then they always say 'but with what they earn'… But emotionality doesn't respond to earnings. And so the death of the prosecutor, the robbery at home, challenging the Milan team that he considers his home in the Champions League: all this è was tough for Gigio".
